Less than a month before the midterm elections, House Democrats are adding six new seats to their list of targets. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced the move to show confidence.
The group added Chris Jones in Arizona, Dwayne Romero in Colorado, and Eliott Rodriguez in Florida. The list also includes Teresa Benitez-Thompson in Nevada, Blake Gendebien in New York, and Justin Pearson in Tennessee. The additions bring the DCCC’s Red to Blue program to 46 candidates. These new candidates will receive extra staff and training to help them win.
DCCC Chair Rep. Suzan DelBene said the new candidates are winning voters with a simple message. She added that families struggling to pay bills need representatives who will fight for them. The Red to Blue expansion came days after the DCCC separately added eight Republican-held or open districts to its broader ‘Districts in Play’ offensive map, including several races Cook Political Report rated Solid or Likely Republican.
Republican leaders say these new targets are just wishful thinking. National Republican Congressional Committee spokesperson Mike Marinella told The New York Post that Democrats can label any district a battleground. Marinella argued that while Democrats chase fairytales, Republicans are outworking them where the majority will be won.
Fox News reports that Republicans hold a significant cash advantage over Democrats. The NRCC has $89 million in its war chest, while the DCCC has $76 million on hand. The NRCC also holds $125 million compared to the Democratic National Committee’s $16.9 million.
While the party focuses on the election, former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is urging caution. He spoke on NBC’s “Meet the Press” and told Democrats not to impeach President Trump if they win the House. He believes such a move would be a waste of time. He warned, “You’re never going to get an impeachment.” Instead, he wants the party to focus on ethics reform to deliver real change.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has not ruled out accountability but said affordability is the main focus. Breitbart reports that Rep. Brandon Gill warned Democrats would end investigations into birth tourism if they take back the House.
If Democrats take back the House, the gavels on our committees will be used to investigate the people removing illegal aliens from the country instead of to continue our investigations into the birth tourism companies circumventing America’s sovereignty.

Gill said the gavels on committees would be used to investigate people removing illegal aliens instead of birth tourism agencies. The election projections show Democrats need just three more victories from 19 toss-up races to win a majority. Republicans need to win 17 of those races to keep control.
