Rep. Ilhan Omar posted a 27-second video of herself walking by a lake with her husband. The clip features a Somali song with lyrics about making enemies “suffer and cry.” This happened just days after federal agents searched her home in Washington, DC.
The video shows Omar and Tim Mynett strolling near Minnesota water. She wrote, “Less scrolling, more strolling. Enjoying our beautiful Minnesota lakes,” according to Breitbart. But the song playing in the background tells a different story. The track is called “Nimaan Ciilayba Icaaya” by rapper Ilkacase Qays.
The Washington Free Beacon obtained a certified English translation of the lyrics. The song says, “The almighty has given me strength.” Omar did not name any target in her post, but the timing is hard to ignore.
Homeland Security agents raided her residence on October 12, less than two weeks before this post appeared. The Justice Department confirmed the search was part of a criminal investigation. Investigators are looking into whether Omar or her late father gave false information on immigration papers. They are also checking her birth date and how she got her citizenship.

Confusion over her identity has grown alongside the investigation. A court filing identified her as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, aka Ilhan Abdullahi Omar,” according to the New York Post. The reason the name is listed there remains unexplained in the filing. However, a deleted 2013 social media post has resurfaced with a different detail. Omar once wrote, “Happy Father’s Day to my aabo Nur Said, I am forever grateful to Allah for giving me the best father …,” the New York Post reported.
Most records list her father as “Nur Omar Mohamed.” The name “Nur Said” is also similar to her ex-husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. Omar has denied marrying her brother. She told Fox News Digital that she has “repeatedly and unequivocally denied” the conspiracy theory. Yet, she did not give a straight “no” when asked about her relation to her ex-husband on MSNBC.
Conservative commentators are calling her response suspicious. According to Guy Benson of the Washington Examiner, Benson argued that her answer was too lawyerly.
President Donald Trump also weighed in on the situation. During an Iowa rally, he claimed Omar utilized a fake name for her swearing-in. He argued that she adopted an alias to take the oath. “I assume she must immediately have to resign from Congress,” remarked Trump. Omar’s office has not commented on the deleted post since the raid.
