In a startling incident late Monday, a U-Haul truck crashed into security barriers surrounding the White House, resulting in the driver being charged with multiple crimes, including threatening the president. The driver, identified as Sai Varshith Kandula, a 19-year-old resident of Chesterfield, Missouri, allegedly smashed into a security gate at Lafayette Park, situated in front of the White House gates. Police informed WUSA that Kandula has been charged with five offenses, one of which is threatening to kill, kidnap, or harm the president, vice president, or a family member.

The Secret Service confirmed that the cargo hold of the U-Haul truck was empty. However, authorities reportedly found a Nazi flag in the truck’s cab, according to ABC7 News.

Guglielmi later took to Twitter, revealing that preliminary findings suggest the driver may have intentionally targeted the security barriers. The incident prompted a temporary evacuation of the nearby Hay Adams Hotel at the request of the Secret Service. Additionally, roads and pedestrian walkways around Lafayette Park were closed for a period of time.
