Biden Makes Nonsensical Comment About ‘High Caliber’ Ammo

We have come to expect a certain amount of idiocy from our elected officials here in the United States, which is one of the saddest and strangest things about our system of government of late.

Most of the time, these ostensibly weird moments are harmless, and we can understand that there are just simple flubs that will occur every so often, (like Marjorie Taylor Greene accidentally saying “peach tree dish” instead of “petri dish”).

But in the wake of an ugly national tragedy, and while you’re attempting to suggest some major changes to the Constitution itself, there are some things that you just have to get right.

Joe Biden has failed us in that regard this week.

President Biden on Monday took aim at 9mm handguns, appearing to suggest that the “high-caliber weapons” ought to be banned.

The president made the remarks outside the White House after returning from a visit to the site of a mass shooting in Texas where 21 people, including 19 elementary school children, were killed last week.

“They said a .22-caliber bullet will lodge in the lung, and we can probably get it out — may be able to get it and save the life. A 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body,” Biden said.

“Why should we allow people to have military-style weapons including pistols with 9-mm bullets and can hold 10 or more rounds,” he said.

The idea of outlawing .9mm ammo, isn’t coming to fruition anytime soon, however.

The 9mm round is the most popular handgun caliber in the United States, accounting for well over half of all handguns produced in 2019, according to Shooting Industry magazine. The data showed that throughout the 2010s, 9mm pistols made up more than 40% of all pistols produced in the United States – or roughly four in every 10 pistols.

Biden and his fellow Democrats have been pushing for wide-ranging changes to national gun laws after a crazed teen massacred 19 children and two teachers at a Texas elementary school a week ago.
