It’s no secret that the Democratic Party platform includes a whole lot of leeway for making the Second Amendment difficult and expensive to exercise, but now the President of the United States appears to be threatening those who support the right to bear arms.
When it was first enacted, the Second Amendment was designed to allow Americans to protect themselves from threats both foreign and domestic, with that second distinction very clearly insinuating that we may need to take on our own government at some point – just as we did with the British back in the 1770’s.
But this week, the Commander in Chief had an ugly threat for patriots looking to keep America free from tyranny.
President Biden on Monday said those who argue they need assault weapons to fight the government need a much bigger arsenal to stand a chance.
Speaking at the National Action Network’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast in Washington, Biden appeared to mock his conservative colleagues.
This is where Biden appeared to suggest that patriotic Americans would never be able to defeat the feds.
“I love my right-wing friends who talk about the tree of liberty is water of the blood of patriots,” he said. “If you need to work about taking on the federal government, you need some F-15s. You don’t need an AR-15.”
The quote Biden refers to dates back to Thomas Jefferson, who wrote in a letter, “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.” Jefferson was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence and America’s third president.
Biden has used the “F-15” quip previously, and was roundly rebuked for the divisive and inflammatory rhetoric at that time as well.
