Brennan Responds To Trump Executive Order

John Brennan, the former CIA director and perennial critic of Donald Trump, is fuming after the president revoked his security clearance, along with those of 50 other former intelligence officials who signed a controversial 2020 letter about Hunter Biden’s laptop.

The executive order, signed by Trump on Tuesday, targeted officials who had publicly suggested that the release of emails from Hunter’s laptop bore “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.” For Brennan and the others, this is more than just a bureaucratic shakeup—it’s a long-overdue reckoning for their role in spreading what has now been proven to be a baseless narrative during the 2020 presidential campaign.

Trump’s executive order minced no words. It called out the signatories for “misleading and inappropriate political coordination” with Joe Biden’s campaign, pointing out that their letter created a false narrative that the laptop story was a Russian disinformation campaign. This narrative, in turn, was weaponized by Biden during the final presidential debate to deflect Trump’s criticisms about his family’s business dealings.

Brennan, never one to shy away from the spotlight, ran to MSNBC to cry foul. “He misrepresented the facts in that executive order,” Brennan complained, arguing that the letter merely suggested the situation had “all the hallmarks of Russian information operations.” This is the same tired excuse we’ve been hearing since 2020, a disingenuous attempt to cover up the fact that the letter was clearly designed to cast doubt on the laptop’s authenticity. Brennan and his co-signers knew exactly what they were doing: planting just enough doubt in the minds of voters to neutralize a story that could have been devastating for Biden.

But here’s the thing—three years later, we know the truth. By 2023, even the Department of Justice had acknowledged that Hunter Biden’s laptop was authentic, contained reliable evidence, and was “not manipulated in any way.” In other words, the “hallmarks of Russian disinformation” line was nothing more than a smokescreen, and Brennan and company were complicit in pushing it.

Let’s not forget the timing of their letter. It dropped just weeks before the 2020 election, right when the Hunter Biden laptop story was gaining traction. Three days later, Joe Biden used the letter to deflect Trump’s attacks during their final debate, claiming, “There are 50 former national intelligence folks who said that what this, he’s accusing me of, is a Russian plan.”

Biden’s campaign took full advantage of the letter’s carefully crafted language, knowing the media would parrot it uncritically. And parrot it they did. Big Tech jumped on the bandwagon, suppressing the story entirely on platforms like Twitter, while corporate media outlets dismissed it outright as Russian propaganda. It was a coordinated effort to bury a scandal that could have changed the outcome of the election.

Fast-forward to 2024, and Brennan is now trying to play the victim. He insists that his security clearance was “for the government’s benefit,” claiming it allowed him to consult on classified matters if needed. But let’s be honest—Brennan’s clearance wasn’t about serving the government; it was about maintaining his credibility as a “senior national security analyst” on MSNBC and other left-leaning outlets. His clearance was a badge of authority that he used to bolster his harsh critiques of Trump while spinning partisan narratives.

This latest executive order is long overdue. Brennan, along with former intelligence heavyweights like James Clapper, Michael Hayden, and Leon Panetta, not only abused their positions of trust but actively worked to influence a presidential election. And for what? To protect Joe Biden, even if it meant misleading the American public and undermining faith in our institutions.

Brennan’s handwringing on MSNBC is particularly rich given his track record. This is the same man who, as recently as February 2024, accused Russia of using Republican politicians “as tools.” Coming from someone who helped propagate a false narrative to benefit the Democratic Party, it’s an irony too glaring to ignore.
