Brzezinski, Chris Matthews and Ezra Klien Discusses Dem Policy

The Democratic Party’s meltdown continues, and frankly, it’s a sight to behold. The latest example of their ongoing collapse played out on MSNBC, where an increasingly unhinged panel went after Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for his role in advancing a stopgap spending bill. But the highlight of the segment? MSNBC host Symone Sanders Townsend announcing she’s leaving the Democratic Party in outrage.

Yes, it’s that good.

MSNBC’s The Weekend turned into an all-out verbal brawl on Saturday, with panelists lambasting Schumer for what they called a “stain” on his leadership. MSNBC host Michael Steele set the stage by asking, “What are Republicans thinking right now about their ability to absolutely punk Schumer into making this move?” In other words, how could Schumer be so weak as to give the GOP a win?

Schumer’s argument for supporting the bill was that a government shutdown would be a “gift” to President Donald Trump. He may have had a point—after all, had the government closed, it would have been immediately framed as the Schumer Shutdown. But whatever his reasoning, his decision enraged the progressive wing of his party, including Sanders Townsend, who delivered this bombshell:

“I’m pissed,” she declared. “There’s actually little that the Senate Minority Leader can say, and the 10 Democrats that voted with the Republicans can say, to appease somebody like me. I’m going to change my registration to Independent.”

This is fantastic news. We should encourage Sanders Townsend and others like her to not only abandon the Democratic Party but to go a step further—form their own hard-left third party. Or better yet, a fourth, fifth, or sixth party. Let the ideological purity contests begin! The more splintered the left becomes, the stronger conservatives will stand.

And she didn’t stop there.

“There’s not another option for Senate Democrats or House Democrats to effectively push back. This was it. They blew it. The Democratic Tea Party was born the same day that Chuck Schumer took to that podium to read that very well-crafted statement that told us he folded like a paper napkin.”

Now, let’s be clear: There will never be a Democratic Tea Party. The original Tea Party stood for principles—limited government, fiscal responsibility, and individual liberty. Meanwhile, any leftist equivalent would be nothing more than a rebranded socialist movement calling for more government control, more regulations, and higher taxes. And we all know how those rallies would look—piles of discarded protest signs, graffiti, and trash left for someone else to clean up.

So, by all means, let’s cheer this on. Let the left fracture into a dozen competing factions, each accusing the other of not being progressive enough. They can have their internal purity tests while conservatives focus on securing a more stable and prosperous nation.
