Hello everyone! Here’s some big news in the political world!
President Joe Biden, who was initially set to give the closing remarks at the Democratic National Convention, will now be speaking on the opening night instead. This change signifies Biden stepping back and handing over the spotlight to Vice President Kamala Harris, the new presumptive Democratic nominee.
A source told CNN, “Monday night is Joe’s night. And then he’ll turn the keys over [to Harris].” For a long time, it was anticipated that Biden would secure the Democratic nomination and deliver the convention’s final speech. However, Biden has decided to step aside from the re-election race, yielding to growing pressure from within the Democratic Party. This move marks a significant shift as the 80-year-old leader makes way for Harris to take the reins.
Since Biden’s withdrawal on July 21, Harris has been busy trying to secure enough Democratic delegates, positioning herself to be formally nominated as the party’s candidate at the Chicago convention scheduled for August 19-22. The first night of the convention will focus on celebrating Biden’s legacy and achievements before transitioning to support Harris’s campaign.
According to DNC spokesman Matt Hill, the convention aims to “tell our story directly to the American people, rally behind the Democratic nominees, and grow our broad and diverse coalition to defeat Donald Trump.”
Kamala Harris received 0 delegates for the Democrat nomination in 2020 and dropped out before the first primary! 2024 came along and she would have done worse because yet again she is polling at 1% among Democrats. But then, Joe’s brain gave out and DNC had no choice

Harris’s running mate will be announced next week and is scheduled to address the convention on August 21. This adds to the list of prominent speakers, which includes former President Bill Clinton, former President Barack Obama, former First Lady Michelle Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Doug Emhoff, Harris’s husband.
Meanwhile, Republican nominee Donald Trump had planned a second debate with Biden on September 10. However, with Biden stepping out of the race, Trump has decided to wait until Harris officially receives her party’s nomination before committing to any debates with her.
.@KamalaHarris has completely backtracked on her record, suddenly saying she doesn’t believe any of the radical policies she campaigned on to get into office. With Kamala’s record, Americans wouldn’t be able to afford rent, a house or gas. This race shouldn’t be close, but it is… pic.twitter.com/pzJfn5JU9a
