Congresswoman Discusses Incident At Her Office

Alright, buckle up because things are getting ugly in Florida politics, and U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna is right in the thick of it. Luna, a firebrand Republican who’s been shaking things up in Congress, is now facing threats against her life—again.

Over the weekend, it got so bad that St. Petersburg police had to increase patrols around her home after a creepy post appeared on her Democratic opponent’s campaign page. The message, now deleted, wasn’t exactly subtle. Some genius decided to let the world know they know where Luna lives and even offered to “send a love letter or… something.” You don’t have to be a detective to know that “something” wasn’t an invitation to Sunday brunch.

Luna isn’t taking this lightly, nor should she. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she hit back, blaming the kind of over-the-top rhetoric that’s become par for the course these days. And let’s be real, she’s got a point. When you spend your days calling people a “threat to democracy” or other ridiculous labels, guess what happens? Crazy people crawl out of the woodwork.

But hold on, there’s more. A “shooting threat” was emailed to St. Petersburg College on Sunday, and while no political names were mentioned, it’s pretty clear this was another part of the ongoing campaign against Luna. Yet, despite the mounting threats, the police haven’t exactly been quick to act. They didn’t even pursue the email, choosing instead to kick it up to U.S. Capitol Police. You have to wonder—would the response be this slow if the target were a Democrat?

Luna’s no stranger to political threats either. Remember, before she even stepped foot in Congress, a former GOP candidate who planned to run against her got caught on tape saying he’d make her “disappear.” It’s all part of a troubling trend where political violence is becoming normalized, and sadly, we know exactly who gets blamed for it.

And yet, her Democratic opponent Whitney Fox has the nerve to play the victim. Fox claims Luna’s accusations are “unfair” and quickly pivots to the usual talking points: “Luna supports a national abortion ban!” Sure, Whitney, because abortion policy is exactly what we need to talk about when one of your supporters was practically giving out Luna’s home address like it’s a pizza order.

It doesn’t end there either. Luna also claims a liberal political operative tried to worm their way into her inner circle by posing as a staffer for Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. And when Luna didn’t take the bait? She got a flood of antisemitic and sexually harassing messages. But sure, it’s all just “partisan politics,” right?

The reality is, Luna’s fierce loyalty to Trump and her unapologetic conservative stance have made her a target. She led the charge to censure Adam Schiff and called for Attorney General Merrick Garland to be held in contempt. She’s not playing the D.C. swamp games, and that’s exactly why the left is going after her with everything they’ve got—threats, harassment, you name it.

And while Democrats may try to downplay it, the fact remains: this isn’t just politics as usual anymore. When someone is willing to incite violence against a sitting congresswoman, it’s a sign that things have gone way too far. And here’s the kicker—if the roles were reversed, if a Republican supporter was making these kinds of threats, the media would be losing their minds. But since it’s Anna Paulina Luna on the receiving end, it barely makes a blip on the radar.

It’s time for a serious reality check. We’re living in a world where politicians are facing death threats for simply doing their jobs, and if that doesn’t scare you, it should. But don’t expect the left or their media allies to acknowledge the double standard anytime soon.
