Super Tuesday is now behind us, and it appears as though our elected officials are ready to get back to their regularly-scheduled nonsense.
Today’s bitter bickering comes to us from Democratic Senator and royal pain in the President’s neck Chuck Schumer, who made some stern comments in the general direction of the Supreme Court.
As it turns out, neither the President nor Chief Justice John Roberts were too keen on what was said.
President Donald Trump on Wednesday evening slammed Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for threatening conservative Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh and demanded “serious action” be taken immediately against the top congressional Democrat.
“This is a direct & dangerous threat to the U.S. Supreme Court by Schumer. If a Republican did this, he or she would be arrested, or impeached. Serious action MUST be taken NOW!” the president tweeted, sharing a video clip of Schumer’s remarks via Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH).
Here is what got this whole thing started:
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Wednesday warned Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh that they will “pay the price” if they take a position he disagrees with in deciding a case that addresses the credentials required for doctors who perform abortions.
“I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you, Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price,” Schumer told a cheering crowd of abortion-rights advocates in front of the Supreme Court.
Chief Justice John Roberts issued a rare statement calling Schumer’s rant “dangerous”, and condemning him for allegedly attempting to interfere with the court.
Congressman Josh Hawley has reportedly begun the process of bringing a motion to censure Schumer before the Senate.
