CNN Facing Criticism for Background Color Change During Biden Speech

The spectacle of Joe Biden’s “soul of America” speech on Thursday night has dominated headlines around the nation, but certainly not for the reasons that Biden had hoped.

The prime time event saw Biden transform into a new character that the left is calling “Dark Brandon”: An allegedly more ferocious version of the otherwise demure and reluctant leader.  In this new role, the President has been forceful, vengeful, and insulting, drawing a vast deal of criticism from both sides of the aisle.

The speech was so outrageous, in fact, that CNN was caught adjusting the ominous red background that Biden had employed, in what appears to be an effort to lighten the mood.

The president came in for withering mockery online for the harsh black and red backdrop, with many comparing the optics to “Star Wars” and “V for Vendetta.”

While networks like CNN, MSNBC, CBS and C-SPAN carrying the speech all originally appeared consistent, CNN noticeably altered the color of the background from red to pink in real-time.

Viewers found the shift to be unmistakable.

Eagle-eyed cable news watchers pounced on the shift. The story was reported in Mediaite, which put the CNN footage up side-by-side against other networks, showing that the CNN switch was not a technical problem that hit all networks.

“CNN appears to have tweaked the video of Biden’s speech from demonic red to Pepto-Bismol pink. Very helpful, as we needed a lot of Pepto-Bismol to get through this!,” said former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee .

The network suggested that the switch was not a purposeful one, blaming it on a glitch in the CBS broadcasting pool itself.
