The slow boat to impeachment being sailed down the Potomac by the Democrats has caught a stiff wind, it seems, as new reports form The Beltway relay a harrowing escalation in the works.
The Democrats have long been investigating President Donald Trump, hoping to somehow hit the jackpot with information that could reverse the 2016 election. This road to impeachment has run through RussiaGate, the Mueller Report, the Internal Revenue Service, and now the conspiracy known as UkraineGate.
This time, the Democrats real think that they’re on to something, and their putting all of their legislative eggs in the same basket.
Their next maneuver, however, may put them past the point of no return.
House Democrats have reportedly weighed drafting three articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, sparked by a so-called “whistleblower’s” mischaracterization of the president’s phone call with the leader of Ukraine.
According to ABC News, Democrats are evaluating articles charging President Trump with abuse of power, obstruction of justice, and contempt of Congress.
Impeachment investigators believe the president could be charged with abuse of power for floating to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to look into allegations of corruption against former Vice President and 2020 White House contender Joe Biden, along with his beleaguered son, Hunter Biden. Further, lawmakers believe the president may have obstructed justice and be in contempt of Congress for defying subpoenas for documents and witness testimony.
The issue now will be whether or not the Democrats can convince the American people that this is some sort of worthy endeavor, and not a political stunt aimed at downgrading the President’s chances for reelection in 2020.
So far, they have failed in that task, and the Senate’s inevitable acquittal could be the embarrassment that keeps the progressive left from seeing the inside of the Oval Office for years to come.
