At a time in which our nation should be coming together to battle a common enemy, there are still many within the pop culture that seem to prefer division to unity.
Many hail from the “resistance”: That fictional rebellion against President Donald Trump that continues to turn more radical by the minute. Even their figureheads in Hollywood have gotten in on the action, with one legendary director going so far as to claim that President Trump himself may somehow be culpable in the deaths caused by coronavirus.
Filmmaker Rob Reiner appeared to suggest that President Donald Trump could be an accessory to murder over his response to the coronavirus pandemic. The Princess Bride director also seemed to repeat the falsehood that Trump called the coronavirus a “hoax.”
Rob Reiner made this suggestion in a tweet on Sunday.
“I’m not a lawyer, but it seems to me if you’re the most influential person in America and you tell the public that a deadly viral pandemic is a hoax & countless citizens accept that as reality, do nothing to protect themselves then end up dead, you might be an accessory,” Reiner wrote.
Reiner has previously attempted to equate Donald Trump’s actions with the inevitable fatalities that the coronavirus will cause here in the United States, insinuating that the President’s actions could be to blame for several deaths in New York City already.
Blame is a normal part of the grief cycle, and some psychologists have suggested that Americans could be suffering from some form of “future grief” as the virus continues to impact our daily lives.
