Democrats are rudderless, fractured, and out of ideas—and now, a former Biden campaign senior adviser thinks the solution is to hand the reins over to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jasmine Crockett.
Yes, really.
During a Wednesday appearance on CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper,” Alencia Johnson made it clear: Democrats are stuck in neutral, unable to rally their base after Donald Trump’s dominant victory in November. And, according to her, the old playbook just doesn’t work anymore.
“The frustration that the base of the party is having, or majority of the party is having, is that some Democrats are going along and that some Democrats are trying to play by the rulebooks when the reality is there’s a convicted felon as the president,” Johnson said. “So the old rules actually don’t work anymore. They need to be a bit more bold.”
Translation? Democrats don’t need better policies—they just need to yell louder.
Let’s be clear: this meltdown isn’t surprising. Since Trump’s decisive victory, Democrats have been scrambling to find a clear message ahead of the midterms, but they’re running into a major problem:
Voters care about real issues like immigration, inflation, and the economy—not the Left’s endless grievance politics.
- Polls showed Trump crushing Kamala Harris—whose failed campaign couldn’t connect with voters and flip-flopped on key issues.
- Democrats ignored key voting blocs, while figures like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer insisted that voters just “didn’t understand” how much the party had done for them.
- Even their own DNC chair, Ken Martin, admitted that the problem wasn’t their policies—but their messaging and “brand problem.”
So what’s their solution?
Elevate AOC and Jasmine Crockett.
When Tapper asked Johnson who she would like to see leading the party, she immediately suggested Ocasio-Cortez and Crockett, despite admitting that they have “issues” with how they govern.
“I mean, I would love to see more of AOC and the Jasmine Crocketts. I know people have their qualms with how they govern, but they break through, and they pierce through.”
Ah yes, because what America really needs is more performative outrage, more race-baiting, and more radical economic policies that push voters further away from the Democratic Party.
And just in case there was any doubt about where this is going, Johnson explicitly called for Democrats to copy Trump’s rally strategy:
“We got to do what Donald Trump was doing when Biden was in office, and that is actually have rallies every week, speak directly to voters, and get actually to his base about some of the things that they’re doing.”
In other words: Trump’s messaging worked, so let’s try to mimic it—but with more screaming, more divisive rhetoric, and more failed policies.
