Hello everyone! So, let’s dive into what’s been stirring up the political waters lately.
Vice President Kamala Harris recently promised to roll out her official policy platform sometime “next week,” which, as you can imagine, has sparked quite a bit of discussion. You see, this announcement didn’t just float by unnoticed.
Critics were quick to point out that Harris had already laid out a policy platform back in 2019 when she was running in the Democratic primary for the 2020 presidential election. And guess what? It didn’t exactly resonate with voters.
To give you a little background, Harris entered the 2020 race with a lot of energy but struggled to gain the traction she needed. Despite her efforts, she eventually bowed out before the first primaries even kicked off. Now, fast forward to 2024, and Harris is in the spotlight again, this time as the Vice President on the Democratic ticket. But the question on everyone’s mind is: What’s different this time?
Real Clear Politics reporter Philip Wegmann shared the news via X (formerly known as Twitter), highlighting that Harris’s new platform would be centered on the economy and lowering costs.
Vice President Harris says to expect a policy platform from her “next week,” telling reporters “it’ll be focused on the economy and what we need to do to bring down costs.”

This sounds like a pretty significant focus, especially with the current economic challenges. However, some folks aren’t buying it. They’re pointing to her past proposals, which included ideas like eliminating private health insurance, supporting the Green New Deal, and other progressive policies that didn’t win her much favor back in the day.
For instance, conservative commentator Guy Benson didn’t hesitate to remind everyone of Harris’s earlier positions, listing them out and suggesting that this “new” platform might not be all that new after all. Similarly, former Trump administration official Richard Grenell and Senator Marsha Blackburn have expressed skepticism, with Blackburn even questioning why Harris isn’t already focusing on these economic issues in her current role.
Her platform has already been announced. By her: Eliminate private health insurance, the Green New Deal, ban fracking, decriminalize illegal immigration, taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants, gun confiscation & redirecting funds away from police. All on the record. https://t.co/q8Dau4ylxs

1) What happened to “Bidenomics is working”?
2) Why isn’t Kamala Harris focused on bringing down costs in the job she has now? https://t.co/nISXbCVBzW

To add to the mix, CNN Republican commentator Scott Jennings took a swipe at Harris, accusing her of copying former President Donald Trump’s policy ideas—specifically, Trump’s proposal to eliminate taxes on tips, which Harris recently endorsed. Jennings sarcastically wondered why it was taking Harris so long to present her platform, hinting that she might just be “cutting and pasting” from Trump’s playbook.
Why does it take until next week to cut and paste from Trump’s website? https://t.co/ebk8N1fufp

So, what’s the takeaway here? Well, it seems that Harris’s upcoming policy announcement has already sparked a lot of debate, even before it’s officially unveiled. Whether it’s a fresh approach or just a rehash of old ideas, it’s clear that people are watching closely and ready to weigh in. Stay tuned because this is one political storyline that’s far from over!
