A new wave of scrutiny is crashing over the Biden administration after a watchdog group representing energy workers claimed to have found “no evidence” President Joe Biden was aware of several executive orders signed during his presidency—orders allegedly authorized via autopen without his direct knowledge.

The group, Power the Future, has submitted a formal request to House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) demanding a full investigation. Their findings raise troubling questions about who was actually controlling key policy decisions in the White House—particularly on issues of climate, energy, and national security.

According to Power the Future’s letter, executive orders dating back to early 2021, especially those involving green energy policy, were signed using an autopen—a device authorized for use by presidents to reproduce their signature. But the watchdog alleges something more sinister: that these orders may have been generated and signed without Biden’s knowledge or involvement.
“We remain concerned that key policies… may have been undertaken without presidential awareness and approval,” wrote Executive Director Daniel Turner.
The nonprofit is calling the phenomenon an “autopen scandal”, alleging that a small inner circle of staffers—or “gatekeepers”—may have effectively been running the executive branch while President Biden was sidelined by cognitive decline.

The controversy gained traction after House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) recalled a moment when President Biden appeared completely unaware that he had signed a critical liquefied natural gas (LNG) executive order.
“I thought, ‘We are in serious trouble—who is running the country?’” Johnson said, voicing the same question now echoing across Capitol Hill.
Insiders have also revealed that Ed Martin, head of the DOJ’s Weaponization Task Force, has been reviewing possible abuses of the autopen and examining a trio of powerful staffers who allegedly acted as “gatekeepers” for Biden during his tenure. Some have gone further, dubbing this alleged shadow leadership structure a “covert Politburo”—a nod to centralized control in authoritarian regimes.
