NBC Issues Correction After Welker Claim

Well, folks, here we go again—another day, another mainstream media figure bending over backward to protect the Biden-Harris administration.

This time, it’s NBC’s Kristen Welker who took a nosedive into the pit of misinformation on “Meet The Press” over the weekend. During a conversation with Senator Tom Cotton about former President Trump’s recent visit to Arlington National Cemetery, Welker tried to cover for Vice President Kamala Harris with a claim so blatantly false it’s almost laughable.

Let’s set the stage: Cotton was pointing out the glaring absence of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris at any event honoring the 13 U.S. service members who tragically lost their lives during the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. He noted that while Trump was at Arlington, Biden was lounging on a beach and Harris? She was just ten minutes away, hanging out at her D.C. mansion, apparently too busy to pay respects.

“They wanted to take those photos,” he said. “You know who the families also invited? Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Where were they? Joe Biden was sitting at a beach. Kamala Harris was sitting at her mansion in Washington, D.C. She was four miles away, ten minutes. She could’ve gone to the cemetery and honored the sacrifice of those young men and women. But she hasn’t. She never has spoken to them or taken a meeting with them.”

Cotton rightly pointed out that the families of those fallen heroes had wanted Biden and Harris there. But instead of addressing that point, Welker decided to take a detour into fantasyland by claiming, “They were with them at the dignified transfer.”

Really, Kristen? Because last time anyone checked, Kamala Harris was nowhere near that ceremony. Welker’s whopper of a statement wasn’t just a slip-up—it was a full-on fabrication, one that NBC later had to walk back with a weak, mealy-mouthed statement saying she “incorrectly implied” Harris was there.

But let’s be clear: Welker didn’t just “imply” it—she stated it. And now, faced with backlash, she’s hiding behind a half-hearted apology that doesn’t even have the decency to be aired in front of the viewers she misled.

It’s almost as if NBC and Welker have forgotten there’s this thing called “the internet,” where people can fact-check in real time. And let’s not forget the infamous moment at that dignified transfer where Biden couldn’t stop checking his watch—a move that enraged the families of the fallen. Welker’s attempt to rewrite history isn’t just dishonest; it’s a slap in the face to those families who deserve better than these cheap media tricks.

So, what’s the takeaway here? When the facts don’t fit the narrative, some in the media are more than happy to twist them. But in this case, Kristen Welker got caught in her own spin, and no amount of backpedaling can undo the damage.
