Nancy Pelosi just doesn’t know when to stop, it seems.
The Speaker of The House is just days removed from the end of her push to impeach President Trump for his alleged “extortion” of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky back on a July 25th phone call. As it was predicted all along, Trump was impeached by the House and acquitted swiftly by the Senate, thanks to the upper chamber’s decisive GOP majority.
Now, Pelosi is back at it, using the President’s tweet about the sentencing guidelines for his longtime pal Roger Stone to drum up support for a new investigation into some alleged wrongdoing by the Commander in Chief.
“That doesn’t mean that we’re going to spend all of our time going after every lie that the administration’s henchmen make to the Congress of the United States,” Pelosi said at her weekly press conference when asked if she backs another impeachment.
Pelosi accused Trump of interfering with the justice system by seeking a lighter sentence for his longtime adviser Roger Stone and blasted Attorney General Bill Barr for overriding the career prosecutors on Stone’s case.
“This is an abuse of power that the president is again trying to manipulate federal law enforcement to serve his political interest,” Pelosi said.
“All this must be investigated,” she said.
Attorney General Bill Barr seemed to indicate that the President’s tweets weren’t effecting the work of the DOJ, even going so far as to ask Trump to stop tweeting in the general direction of the Department, so that Barr could work in peace.
