The sheer insanity of Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine has been on full display over the course of the last several weeks, as the Moscow madman’s military continues to rack up enormous defeats that are made all the more worrisome as the world turns against the Kremlin in full.
Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine was first categorized as an attempt to “de-nazify” the sovereign nation, (whose President is a Jewish descendant of Holocaust victims), and then, later, the Kremlin shifted their excuses to suggest that they were looking to prevent the spread of NATO in Europe.
This has backfired, however, as Finland and Sweden appeared poised to join the international defense organization imminently.
This has Russia making more vague and vapid threats.
The Kremlin on Thursday said Finland’s push to join NATO is a direct threat to Russia as well as the stability of the European continent and vowed to respond accordingly.
“Finland’s entry into NATO will become a threat to Russia,” Dmitry Peskov, press secretary to Russian President Vladimir Putin, told Russian media outlets.”The next expansion of NATO does not make our continent more stable and secure.”
“Of course, all this will become elements for a special analysis and development of the necessary measures in order to balance the situation and ensure our security,” he added.
Russia’s military doctrine allows for the use of nuclear weapons should the Kremlin deem the nation’s existence at stake, and it certainly appears as though this is where this rhetoric is heading.
