What was once a small, tight-knit community of internet researchers looking into the mysterious postings of an alleged Washington insider is now one of the most ubiquitous bits of alternative history the nation has ever seen.
I’m speaking about Qanon – an anonymous internet user that many believe is leaving us clues to the reality of the “Deep State” in Washington DC, likely at the behest of the Trump administration.
Interest in the theory has mushroomed in recent months, and has been galvanized by some of the censorship that Q followers have faced from social distance sites such as Reddit.
A recent bit airing on CNN has brought Q theory into the mainstream however…
The head of the New York Police Department’s second-largest police union gave a television interview Friday afternoon while sitting in front of a mug emblazoned with QAnon imagery and slogans.
The mug was positioned behind Ed Mullins, president of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, during a roughly seven-minute interview on the Fox News show “Your World with Neil Cavuto.”
The mug behind Mullins featured the word “QANON” and the hashtag #WWG1WGA, which stands for “where we go one, we go all,” a popular slogan among QAnon supporters. At the center of the mug was a large letter Q, which refers to a supposed government insider who, according to QAnon supporters, posts cryptic clues on the Internet about the “deep state.”
Given just how piecemeal much of the Qanon story is, the presence of this mug during this segment, on CNN no less, is sure to rile the theorists yet again.
