If there’s one rule in politics that never fails, it’s this: the cover-up is always worse than the crime. And in the case of Jake Tapper, the irony could not be richer.
The longtime CNN anchor, already tangled in a defamation lawsuit, is now positioning himself as a truth-teller in a new tell-all book about Joe Biden’s decline. Titled Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again, the book exposes how Biden’s aides and allies lied to the public about his mental fitness.
What’s missing? Jake Tapper’s own role in the cover-up.
For years, Biden’s cognitive struggles were an open secret—except in the mainstream media, where outlets like CNN worked overtime to dismiss concerns. And no one was more indignant about it than Tapper.
Flashback to 2020, when Lara Trump raised concerns about Biden’s clear cognitive decline during the campaign. Tapper’s response? Pure outrage.
“You have no right… I think you were mocking his stutter, and I think you have absolutely no standing to diagnose somebody’s cognitive decline.”
Yet now, Tapper is poised to make big money on a book detailing how Biden’s own inner circle knew he was in decline for years and still lied to America about it.
The hypocrisy is staggering.
Here’s Jake Tapper incensed over Joe Biden’s “stutter” and outraged over claims of Biden’s cognitive decline.
Now he’s cashing in on a book about Biden’s cognitive decline and media cover up. There is no bottom for these people.

The timing of Original Sin isn’t a coincidence. Biden’s disastrous June 27, 2024, debate performance was the final straw, exposing what millions of Americans had seen coming for years. Less than a month later, Biden dropped out of the race.
Only then did Tapper and his media allies feel comfortable acknowledging reality.
But conservative commentator Stephen Miller wasn’t about to let Tapper off the hook so easily.
“Here’s Jake Tapper incensed over Joe Biden’s ‘stutter’ and outraged over claims of Biden’s cognitive decline,” he wrote on X. “Now he’s cashing in on a book about Biden’s cognitive decline and media cover-up. There is no bottom for these people.”
And Miller is exactly right.
Tapper and co-author Alex Thompson conducted 200 interviews to piece together what the public already knew: Biden’s decline wasn’t sudden, it was years in the making.
Their book lays out how Biden’s staffers gaslit the American people, silencing any criticism, dismissing legitimate concerns as “right-wing conspiracy theories,” and protecting a failing president at all costs.
And now? Tapper is repackaging his complicity as investigative journalism.
For years, the press insisted that Trump’s presidency was the true threat to democracy. But as Tapper’s publisher accidentally admits, the real threat came from Biden and the people around him, who misled the nation into re-electing a man they knew wasn’t up for the job.
“The irony is biting: In the name of defeating what they called an existential threat to democracy, Biden and his inner circle ensured it… The decision to run again, the Original Sin of this president, led to a campaign of denial and gaslighting, leading directly to Donald Trump’s return to power and all that has happened as a consequence.”
Translation: Biden’s people lied. The media helped. And it backfired.
