Allow me to save you the trouble of having to hear this from someone in the mainstream media: The left is about to suggest that Donald Trump is building an army.
No, I mean it. The liberal-leaning infotainment industry is about to twist the words of the former President to suggest that he’s giving his followers a get-out-of-jail-free card to help him take back the White House, (or remain un-indicted), the same way that they suggested Lindsey Graham was threatening a revolt when he was just stating the obvious.
Here’s what Trump said that the left is going to try to spin:
Former president Donald Trump said he would issue full pardons and a government apology to rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and violently attacked law enforcement to stop the democratic transfer of power.
“I mean full pardons with an apology to many,” he told conservative radio host Wendy Bell on Thursday morning. Such a move would be contingent on Trump running and winning the 2024 presidential election.
And also:
“I am financially supporting people that are incredible and they were in my office actually two days ago, so they’re very much in my mind,” Trump said. “It’s a disgrace what they’ve done to them. What they’ve done to these people is disgraceful.”
In the case involving Lindsey Graham, the South Carolina Senator simply noted that an indictment of Donald Trump might stir some of his supporters to riot in the street. This is not some threat, but rather, a reasonable deduction based on the circumstances.
In Trump’s case, the left is going to argue that this is putting the idea in his supporters’ head that, should he end up back in the White House, anything they did to help get him there is fair game.
In reality, Trump is trying to make right something right that he feels went wrong all those months ago, but the left can’t allow it to be viewed in that way.
