Twitter FREAKS OUT After Ted Cruz Says THIS About Jan 6

With the one-year anniversary of the January 6th storming of the Capitol arriving this week, the debate over the true nature of the event continues to rage.

The incident was certainly a seminal moment in modern American history, one way or the other, and the GOP has largely attempted to downplay the attempted insurrection.  Some have suggested that it was nothing more than a mass-trespassing event, while others have gone so far as to characterize the riot as little more than a “tour”.

But, on the eve of this anniversary, one of the most prominent figures within the Republican Party is catching holy hell over his latest stance on the subject.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson lambasted Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Wednesday for the unforgivable sin of calling the Capitol insurrection a “violent terrorist attack,” accusing the ultra-conservative lawmaker of “repeating the talking points that Merrick Garland has written.”

Cruz, one of eight GOP senators who objected to the certification of President Joe Biden’s election on Jan. 6, 2021, drew the wrath of the MAGA faithful on Wednesday when he described the storming of the U.S. Capitol in stark terms.

“We are approaching a solemn anniversary this week,” Cruz said in a Senate Rules Committee hearing. “And it is an anniversary of a violent terrorist attack on the Capitol, where we saw the men and women of law enforcement demonstrate incredible courage, incredible bravery, risk their lives for the Capitol.”

Twitter users weren’t terribly thrilled about the idea either.

One has to imagine that Cruz will continue to face the fallout of his statement over the next several days.
