Actor Dennis Quaid has become the latest celebrity to endorse Spencer Pratt’s surprising campaign for mayor of Los Angeles, adding another recognizable name to a growing list of entertainers backing the reality television star’s political bid.
Quaid, who personally experienced the impact of the devastating Palisades Fire, offered his support during a May 23 interview with Fox News while attending the 2nd Annual Military & Veteran Entertainment Awards Gala.
When asked about the mayoral race, the veteran actor did not hesitate.
“Mayor race? Spencer Pratt. Go Spencer Pratt!” Quaid said with a smile.
The endorsement comes as criticism of current Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass continues to linger following the city’s handling of the wildfire crisis. Quaid has previously been outspoken about Bass’s response to the disaster, particularly her decision to travel to Ghana while Los Angeles faced mounting concerns over the fires and emergency preparedness.

When Fox News asked why he felt strongly enough to endorse Pratt, Quaid appeared surprised that the question even needed to be asked.
“Why?” he responded.
“What are you talking about? Why?”
He then gestured toward the broader state of the city.
“Just look around, man. Why?” Quaid said while laughing.
The brief exchange captured a sentiment that Pratt’s campaign has worked hard to tap into: frustration among some residents who believe Los Angeles needs a dramatic change in leadership.
Pratt entered the race after losing his own Pacific Palisades home during the wildfire disaster. Since launching his campaign, he has focused heavily on issues such as homelessness, crime, wildfire preparedness, government accountability, and the cost of living in Los Angeles.
What began as a candidacy many observers initially dismissed has steadily attracted attention and support from several high-profile figures.
According to Fox News, Quaid joins a growing coalition of celebrity supporters that includes Paris Hilton, Joe Rogan, James Woods, Jamie Kennedy, Billy Bush, James Foster, Katharine McPhee, Joanna Krupa, and podcast host Adam Carolla. Pratt has also received backing from several of his former The Hills castmates, including Kristin Cavallari, Brody Jenner, and Audrina Patridge.
The campaign has attracted support beyond Hollywood personalities as well. Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss reportedly contributed the maximum amount allowed under campaign finance rules to Pratt’s campaign.
The endorsements arrive at a crucial moment in the race.
Polling reported by the Los Angeles Times on May 28 showed a remarkably competitive contest. Mayor Bass led the field with 26 percent support among likely voters, while City Councilmember Nithya Raman followed closely at 25 percent. Pratt was not far behind at 22 percent, placing him firmly within striking distance as election day approaches.
For a candidate with no prior elected experience, those numbers have surprised many political observers and helped transform the race into one of the more closely watched contests in California.
