Florida Braces For Another Hurricane

Here we go again, folks. Hurricane Milton is roaring toward Florida with a vengeance, building strength in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. It’s expected to become a catastrophic Category 4 or even 5 storm, slamming into Florida’s west coast by Wednesday. Tampa, in particular, is bracing for the worst. This isn’t just another storm—Milton is predicted to be the strongest to hit the Tampa area in a century. Governor Ron DeSantis has been all over it, preparing to oversee the largest evacuation operation since Hurricane Irma in 2017. The state is even opening up highway shoulders to keep evacuees moving and get people to safety before Milton arrives. It’s exactly what leadership looks like during a crisis.

And now, the cherry on top: FEMA’s scrambling with a shortage of disaster relief funds. Why, you ask? Because some of that cash has been rerouted to help with—you guessed it—processing illegal immigrants. But of course, FEMA’s Administrator Deanne Criswell was quick to deny it on national TV, calling it “just plain false” and attacking anyone who pointed it out as spreading “dangerous rhetoric.” She even played the victim card, talking about how it’s tough on FEMA staff to hear this kind of criticism. Spare us, please. We’re talking about getting actual help to American citizens, not catering to political narratives.

And the media was right there to back her up. ABC’s George Stephanopoulos gave Criswell a cozy platform to dismiss the funding concerns, brushing off legitimate questions as “misinformation” from Trump supporters. It’s the usual playbook—deflect, deny, and blame anyone who questions the administration’s priorities. Meanwhile, they’re scrambling to explain away why FEMA’s coffers seem suspiciously empty just as the most active part of hurricane season hits.

Oh wait, is this the misinformation you’re talking about???

But here’s the reality: if this is how the Biden-Harris administration is gearing up for disasters, the outlook isn’t great. Florida is preparing for a historic storm. Let’s not forget Kamala’s stellar leadership during Hurricane Helene—you know, the one where she managed to squeeze in time for an interview on a sex podcast. Real classy. It’s almost as if they can’t be bothered to step up unless it involves virtue signaling or cozying up to their voter base.

But why should any of this be shocking with this administration? However, even I was taken aback and disgusted when I heard what was said at this FEMA meeting…really?

The bottom line is this: Florida’s dealing with a storm that could devastate the state, and all we’ve gotten from the Biden administration is more excuses and finger-pointing. Governor DeSantis is leading the charge, as usual, while Washington does what it does best—talk a big game but offer little in the way of real help. Maybe FEMA should focus less on complaining about criticism and more on doing its job.

So, brace yourselves, Florida. This is looking like another round of incompetence and negligence from the people in charge, and sadly, it’s the folks on the ground who’ll be left to pay the price.
