Oh boy, here we go again—another anonymous, masked, federal worker whining about how hard it is to be held accountable for doing… well, anything. The viral clip making the rounds (which we can’t embed because X is being glitchy, or maybe the algorithm is just doing us all a favor) is pure comedy.
This brave whistleblower—if we’re really going to call her that—donned a mask to dramatically describe the “frightening” new reality of working under the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by none other than Elon Musk. And what’s the horrifying, dystopian policy that has her shaking in fear?
An email. That’s it. An email.
Federal employees are now asked—brace yourself—to document what they actually did during the week.
You’ve got to be kidding me.
Imagine being so unaccustomed to accountability that answering a simple “What did you work on this week?” email feels like a government crackdown. In the real world, where actual workers exist, this is standard practice.
Private-sector employees have weekly progress meetings. Teams outline completed tasks and what’s coming next. In fact, many Capitol Hill offices—where government work actually happens—already do this on Mondays. But here’s Musk, cutting that in half by only asking what they’ve already done—and even that is too much?
If a basic question about your workload feels oppressive, I think we already have our answer.
This is why nobody outside the Beltway cares about the complaints of federal workers. For years, they’ve been coddled, unaccountable, and nearly impossible to fire, all while enjoying cushy benefits, telework luxuries, and promotions based on tenure, not performance. Now, Elon shows up, flips on the lights, and suddenly they’re panicking.
The return-to-office temper tantrums?
Ignored.
The “unfair” job cuts?
Met with shrugs.
The media’s sob stories about laid-off bureaucrats?
Tens of millions of workers have been fired without a CBS interview.
This is why the mockery is endless—because these people, with their snobby, entitled attitude, expect sympathy for what is already the reality for everyone else.
Normal Americans don’t get lifetime job security. They don’t get years of telework with no oversight. They don’t get to ignore emails from their boss asking them what they worked on.
So if your biggest complaint is that you now have to answer a basic email about your job, maybe the problem isn’t DOGE. Maybe the problem is you never had a real job to begin with.
