Federal agents executed a search warrant on her residence, and the Justice Department says this is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation. Omar took to social media to say she is ok, but she also made a bold claim about why this happened.
Homeland Security agents moved in early Monday morning. Today, a spokesperson for the Department of Justice stated that Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant authorized by a court and obtained by the Department of Justice in the Washington, DC, area. The agency confirmed the action is part of a criminal investigation.
Breitbart reports that the investigation could concern immigration documents completed by her deceased father during her childhood. Omar says this is not about facts but about politics. Her X post stated: “this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement.” She added that she will not be silenced.

This is not the first time Donald Trump has spoken about Omar. He told reporters on Air Force One last year that she supposedly came into the country by marrying her brother. Omar says this is just the latest escalation in a long pattern.
She asserted that Trump has targeted her with baseless lies and smear campaigns for ten years. Per the New York Post, she views the raid as a targeted effort to intimidate her as a political foe. The Washington Examiner notes that Trump accused her of being linked to fraud rings in Minnesota that got millions from state programs.

House Democratic leadership called the raid deeply disturbing. They said it raises serious questions about the corrupt weaponization of the federal government against Donald Trump’s adversaries. Leaders including Hakeem Jeffries and Katherine Clark promised full accountability for what they call rogue abuse of power.
They stated that the American people deserve transparency and pledged full accountability for the rogue abuse of power by the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice. Yet, the government insists the search was legal and authorized by a judge.
