The air in the room got heavy when Kamala Harris called the Trump White House the “most callous and corrupt and incompetent” administration in American history. She said this while campaigning on Monday for Democrats in Wisconsin. She did not say the President’s name once, but she made her point clear. Fox News reported she called the agenda one of “brutality” against regular folks.
Harris spoke at an event for David Crowley, the Democratic nominee for governor. She told the crowd that a true leader lifts people up instead of beating them down. “Unlike some other people who are constantly looking in the mirror, David is looking at the people,” Harris said. She also reminded everyone that her team won the 2020 election, even though her opponent denied it.
While Harris was speaking, the Trump administration was fighting back against a news report. They took issue with a CBS News “60 Minutes” segment about a man from Mali named Moussa Diawara. The TV show said the man was deported wrongly. But the Department of Homeland Security says the show left out a key detail about fraud.
James Percival, the DHS General Counsel, wrote on X that the man was a “poster child” for wrongful deportations claims. He pointed out that Diawara is a married father of two who claimed he was gay to get asylum. “his claimed reason for fearing Mali was that he is ‘gay,’ just in case you’re wondering how bad the immigration fraud problem is,” Percival wrote. The agency says Diawara was ordered to leave by a judge back in 2012.
The records show Diawara overstayed a tourist visa more than ten years ago. He claimed refugee status to avoid being sent back to Mali. The DHS says he was sent to Ghana, a third country that promised he would be safe. Fox News obtained his application where he wrote about having “female behaviors and feelings.” He also said he felt comfortable being intimate with boys rather than girls.
The “60 Minutes” report said Diawara was homeless in Mali after arriving in Ghana. It claimed he had to hide and feared for his safety. The report said he escaped to another country with help from truckers. The DHS insists the news program left out the “absurd bit of fraud” regarding his sexual identity claims.
Harris is busy hitting the trail in key states like Nevada, Michigan, and New Hampshire. She is working with other Democrats to stop what she calls the “madness” of the current time. Crowley called Harris a “huge mentor” and said his wife loves her. His opponent, Tom Tiffany, attacked this connection. Tiffany accused Crowley of supporting higher taxes and policies that would raise energy costs.
Some people wonder if Harris is saving her energy for a 2028 run. She told NAACP leaders in Detroit that she has not decided yet. “I do sincerely believe ’28 won’t matter if we don’t get through ’26,” she said. The focus remains on the upcoming midterms and the power of the people to organize. The debate over who is telling the truth about the election and immigration continues.
