On Wednesday, President Joe Biden made a shocking statement during an interview with CNN regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
In the interview, Biden threatened to withhold military support from Israel if they continued their efforts to take out Hamas terrorists in the Gaza city of Rafah.
This statement came as a shock to many, as just a few weeks ago, Biden promised to stand by Israel and not abandon them. However, it seems he has caved under pressure from pro-Hamas protesters who have been causing chaos on college campuses across the U.S. for the past few weeks.
But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was quick to respond to Biden’s remarks, making it clear that Israel will not be intimidated by threats and is prepared to stand alone if necessary. Netanyahu reminded the world of Israel’s history of standing strong against their enemies, even when they were vastly outnumbered and faced an arms embargo.
“We are on the eve of Independence Day. In the War of Independence 76 years ago, we were few against many,” Netanyahu said. “We had no weapons, there was an arms embargo on Israel, but with the greatness of our spirit, bravery, and unity amongst us – we won.”
“Today we are much stronger. We are determined, and we are united to defeat our enemy and those who seek our destruction,” he continued. “If we have to stand alone, we will stand alone. I already said that if we have to – we will fight with our fingernails. But we have much more than fingernails, and with the same greatness of spirit, with God’s help, we will win together.”
Netanyahu’s words are a powerful reminder of the spirit and determination of the people of Israel. They have faced countless attacks and threats to their existence, but they have always emerged victorious. And they will do so again, with or without the support of the United States.
President Biden’s statement also brings into question his understanding of the situation in the Middle East. By accusing Israel of deliberately targeting civilians, he ignores the fact that Hamas is a terrorist organization that uses civilians as human shields and launches attacks on Israeli civilians. Israel, on the other hand, takes great care to minimize civilian casualties and only targets known terrorist hideouts.
Biden’s words are not based on facts but rather on pleasing his base and avoiding criticism from those who sympathize with Hamas.
