Sen. John Fetterman Has a Message for His Fellow Dems

Sen. John Fetterman did not mince words when he appeared on Fox News Monday night. In fact, the Pennsylvania Democrat delivered one of the most blistering public rebukes yet of fellow Democrat Graham Platner, making it clear he believes the Maine Senate candidate’s political future is effectively over.

Speaking on The Ingraham Angle, Fetterman argued that Platner has already lost the confidence of his own party after multiple Democratic leaders withdrew their support in the wake of allegations against him. Platner has denied those allegations, and his campaign has maintained they are false and politically motivated. Even so, Fetterman suggested the damage is beyond repair.

“He was already a dead man walking politically,” Fetterman said. “Now, when the entire Democratic Party in Maine has called him to leave, and now, also, as far as I know, whether it’s Schumer, Gillibrand and other leadership… have all called [for him to] go, he’s a dead man walking.”

That wasn’t the end of it. Fetterman questioned why Platner continues to campaign despite losing the backing of prominent Democratic officials.

“I don’t know why he’s trying to pretend that he’s not done, too,” he said.

The Pennsylvania senator then turned his attention to progressive media figures and political influencers who had previously supported Platner. In particular, he criticized the hosts of the popular Pod Save America podcast, arguing they should reconsider how they handled earlier reporting about the candidate.

“Even those Pod Save America people that pushed that dirtbag, and they dismissed those things in The New York Times article, maybe they ought to apologize to the women that clearly they didn’t believe or they dismissed that,” Fetterman said.

It was an unusually direct attack, especially considering it came from a Democratic senator criticizing other prominent voices within his own party. Rather than focusing solely on Platner, Fetterman expanded his criticism to what he described as a broader pattern of poor political judgment.

“I know Democrats that have back-to-back endorsed and got all in on Swalwell and were on the Platner train as well, too,” he said. “So, maybe stop getting in bed with absolute dirtbags, someone like Platner.”

The remarks underscore just how isolated Platner has become within Democratic circles. Since the allegations became public, several high-profile Democrats—including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee—have withdrawn their endorsements and urged him to step aside.

Platner, however, has continued to deny the allegations and insists the accusations are politically motivated. His campaign has argued that the timing of the allegations is no coincidence and has maintained that he intends to continue defending himself.

Whether Platner ultimately remains in the race or decides to withdraw, Fetterman’s comments leave little doubt about where he stands.
