Kamala Harris is in panic mode, folks. After weeks of taking friendly softball interviews and dodging anything that might ruffle her feathers, she’s finally stepping into unfamiliar territory—Fox News. Yes, you heard that right. Harris, the Democrat nominee, will sit down with Bret Baier, the chief political anchor for Fox, in a desperate attempt to salvage what’s left of her sinking poll numbers. And the timing? It couldn’t be more transparent.
Harris and Donald Trump are locked in a tight race, but let’s be honest—Trump’s got the upper hand on all the big issues in swing states, according to a recent report by The Wall Street Journal. On top of that, the betting markets are leaning in his favor, too. So, what does Harris do? She heads to Fox, the one place she’s avoided like the plague, to try and win over some skeptical voters in a critical battleground state like Pennsylvania. Desperate times call for desperate measures, right?
The pre-taped interview, which will air on Baier’s Special Report this Wednesday, is her first-ever formal sit-down on the network. It’s almost amusing, considering she’s spent most of her campaign doing interviews on networks that toss her questions so easy you could answer them in your sleep. From The View to Howard Stern to late-night shows, she’s been playing it safe—until now.

Bret Baier, to his credit, made it clear that there are no preconditions for the interview, and no one—not even Harris—will know the questions ahead of time. “No topic is off the table,” Baier said. Well, let’s see how Kamala handles it without a teleprompter or a cheering audience. The pressure’s on, and she’s got everything to lose.
“No topic is off the table. And if there is any editing -it will be very minimal for timing and will be editorially the same question and answer- we are pre taping the interview right before my live show Wednesday in Pa,” he added.
Thanks Tom – there were no preconditions to get the interview. No one has the questions ahead of time —except me. No topic is off the table. And don’t forget, Harris has already been caught up in some controversy with CBS’s 60 Minutes, where her remarks were deceptively edited, leading to quite the backlash. So, transparency is clearly not her campaign’s strong suit. Yet, she continues making the rounds on friendly platforms while dodging any real tough questions. Even billionaire CEO Marc Benioff called her out for refusing an interview with TIME magazine, saying she’s the only presidential candidate not to do one.
Meanwhile, Trump is doing what he does best—dominating the media. He’s set to appear in a Fox News town hall with an all-female audience in Georgia, while Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, has been making the rounds, including an appearance on Fox News Sunday earlier this month. And let’s not forget Trump’s VP pick, JD Vance, who’s been more than happy to clash with the media, as he did with ABC’s Martha Raddatz just this past weekend.
So, what’s Harris’ game plan here? She’s trying to turn things around in the final stretch, but it’s hard not to see this for what it is—a Hail Mary attempt to shift the narrative after a devastating drop in the polls. Whether this interview will do anything to help her remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: when you’re heading to Fox News for help, you know things aren’t looking too good.
