Kamala Gives Address At WH & Heads To DE

Hello everyone! Let’s take a little trip down memory lane to 2016. Remember Jeb Bush? He had this infamous moment when he had to ask his audience to “please clap” at one of his events. The media had a field day with it, tearing him apart because, let’s face it, if you can’t get your audience to clap without asking, that’s on you, right? It was pretty embarrassing, and it stuck with him.

Fast forward to today, and we see similar instances with President Joe Biden. There have been moments where he’s accidentally read out loud instructions from his cue cards like, “pause for applause.” It’s awkward, sure, but these things happen. And now, it seems Vice President Kamala Harris has joined this somewhat cringe-worthy club.

Picture this: Kamala Harris is on the White House South Lawn, delivering a speech about President Biden’s “legacy of accomplishment.” She pauses mid-sentence, waiting for applause that doesn’t come, and then adds, “Yes, you may clap.” Some in the crowd do clap, albeit reluctantly. It’s an awkward moment, punctuated by her trademark laugh. For those who have seen the video, it’s clear that the audience wasn’t exactly getting the joke.

What makes this even more interesting is the context. This was her first public appearance since Biden announced he wouldn’t be running for a second term and endorsed her to replace him. Despite this significant backing, the crowd’s enthusiasm was noticeably lacking. These were supporters, hand-picked and vetted, yet their applause was half-hearted at best. It’s almost sad when you think about it.

The lackluster response can be seen as a reflection of the audience’s judgment on the Biden-Harris administration’s performance so far. If even a supportive crowd isn’t roused to enthusiastic applause, what does that say?

And then there’s the political fallout. Democratic leaders weren’t exactly tripping over themselves to endorse Harris after Biden’s announcement. Nancy Pelosi waited until the afternoon to show her support, and Barack Obama still hasn’t chimed in. This isn’t necessarily because they dislike Harris – they’re on the same team. But the goal was to find someone who could beat Trump and keep the Democrats in power. The tepid endorsements suggest that many are skeptical Harris is the one to do that.

Then we come to the million-dollar question: Why was Harris the one addressing the nation after all this upheaval? Where is Joe Biden? Harris says he’s at home recovering from COVID. Fair enough, but considering he’s had every vaccine under the sun and natural immunity from past infections, how severe could it be? This just adds another layer to the mystery. How can Biden be considered unfit to run for another term but still fit to lead the country through multiple crises?

In the end, Kamala Harris’s bigger issues are not only her perceived lack of authenticity but also her dismal approval ratings and failed policies.
