Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass made headlines Monday for all the wrong reasons after throwing a public tantrum over a federal immigration enforcement operation in the MacArthur Park area — an operation backed by federal agents and U.S. military personnel due to ongoing threats and violence targeting immigration officers.
Instead of cooperating or offering support for law enforcement, Bass rushed to the scene and demanded the operation stop. Her stunt disrupted a lawful federal action in a sanctuary city known for obstructing immigration enforcement. The agents, however, did not back down.
What happened in MacArthur Park is outrageous and un-American.

Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino made it crystal clear that federal authorities aren’t taking orders from the mayor of Los Angeles.
“I don’t work for Karen Bass,” he told Fox News’ Bill Melugin. “Better get used to us now, because this is going to be normal very soon. We will go anywhere, anytime we want in Los Angeles.”
Bass then doubled down at a press conference, denouncing the presence of U.S. Marines as “outrageous and un-American.” But what’s truly outrageous and un-American is a mayor interfering with federal agents enforcing federal law. It’s also outrageous that military support is even necessary due to violent threats from leftist agitators—threats Bass has not once condemned.
When asked if the city was losing control, Bass gave a bizarre answer:
“We don’t feel helpless. That’s not in our DNA.” Another activist on stage shouted “It’s the summer of resistance.”
Karen Bass defiantly responds to today’s ICE operation in LA:
“Last I checked, I was elected to be mayor of the city. That did not include a federal takeover….So either you believe in democracy or you don’t.”

Bass then fired back at Bovino’s comment with a dose of political theater:
“Last I checked, I was elected to be mayor of the city. That did not include a federal takeover. So either you believe in democracy, or you don’t.”
That’s not democracy—that’s delusion. Federal enforcement of immigration law is not a “takeover.” It’s the rule of law in action. The mayor of a city does not have the authority to override national policy or block federal agents from doing their jobs. What’s abnormal is a mayor acting like she runs her own sovereign nation within U.S. borders.
