Kamala Harris proved once again why her team seems to dread letting her take unscripted questions. Normally, when she’s traveling, she makes a quick dash from car to plane, all while ignoring the press in hopes they won’t get a chance to slip in a question. But on Sunday, for some reason, the press managed to corner her while she was heading to New York. Spoiler alert: it didn’t go well.
Harris decided to grace the media with a preview of her “vision for the economy.” According to her, it’s all about “an opportunity economy” that “invests in the aspirations, ambitions, and dreams of the American people” while also addressing challenges like grocery prices and homeownership difficulties. If you’re scratching your head trying to make sense of that jumble of words, you’re not alone. What she actually said was a tangled mess of vague promises that don’t seem to connect to reality.
Let’s break it down. The high grocery prices and the struggle to buy homes? Yeah, that’s thanks to the inflation her tie-breaking vote in the Senate helped fuel. She’s conveniently ignoring the fact that her decisions directly contributed to making these issues worse. But now, she’s acting like she has a magical solution up her sleeve, which is laughable when she’s part of the reason we’re in this mess to begin with.
And then there’s her favorite buzzword: “investment.” Apparently, she thinks the government should invest in our “aspirations” and “dreams.” Translation? Spend more taxpayer dollars on pet projects and entitlements. No thanks. What Americans need is for the government to stop trying to run their lives and start doing its actual job—like securing the border and maintaining law and order, things she’s conveniently failed to address. Instead, she pushes more spending and government overreach as if that’s going to fix inflation. Pro tip: it won’t.
What’s even more amusing is her desperate attempt to define herself this late in the game. She’s had to lean on celebrities like Oprah to help her craft a narrative, but even with their help, she’s struggling to convince the public she’s up to the task.
And let’s not forget her bizarre statement about wanting another debate with the “former vice president.” Um, who exactly is she referring to? Last time we checked, Donald Trump is the former president, not vice president. Maybe she’s hoping to revive her debate with Mike Pence, but at this point, it seems like Harris caught a bit of Biden’s cognitive fog.

Harris might want to tread carefully, though, because if the polls are anything to go by, she’s not exactly cruising toward a victory lap. Democrats are sweating over the fact that Trump consistently outperforms the polls when it counts. Just look at history: In 2020, public polls showed Trump trailing Biden by about 5 percentage points, but when the dust settled, Biden barely squeaked by in Pennsylvania, winning by just 1.2%. The same thing happened in 2016 when Trump won Pennsylvania despite trailing Hillary Clinton in every poll. If Harris thinks she’s got this in the bag, those internal numbers might be telling a different story—and that’s probably why her team is so keen to keep her away from live mics and spontaneous Q&A sessions.
No polling showed @realDonaldTrump Trump beating Clinton in 2016.
Not one legacy media poll.
Notice ABC News perpetuated the “double-digit lead” lie for weeks.

The funniest part? She’s acting like she’s winning and itching for another debate. If she’s so confident, why didn’t she agree to the Fox event Trump participated in? Sounds like she’s the one with something to prove, not him. But hey, keep talking, Kamala—the more you do, the clearer it becomes why they don’t let you off-script.
